Gov. Eno Launches Akwa Ibom ARISE Youth Employment

The Akwa Ibom State Government has unveiled the ARISE Youth Employment Portal, a digital platform that will address unemployment and underemployment among the state’s youth. This initiative will provide access to job opportunities in both the public and private sectors. The goal is of wealth creation and economic growth.

In a recent announcement, the Governor stated that the role of the platform is to centralise job listings, candidate profiles, and application tracking.

Launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, the ARISE Youth Employment Portal is specifically for unemployed or underemployed youth who are indigenes of Akwa Ibom. Some of the features of the platform include a job creation database and resources to help candidates become more employable. The platform will also connect young Akwa Ibom job seekers with potential employers and provide them with opportunities for training, funding, and skill development.

The portal is a timely intervention in tackling the state’s rising youth unemployment rate and is part of the ARISE Agenda for youth empowerment. According to the state government, this digital platform will enhance the employment landscape by allowing young people to showcase their skills and qualifications to more employers in various sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

To register on the ARISE Youth Employment Portal, candidates must meet certain eligibility requirements. The portal is open exclusively to youth who are indigenes of Akwa Ibom State and are either unemployed or underemployed. Requirements for completing registration include the following:

  • Proof of Indigeneship of Akwa Ibom State
  • National Identification Number (NIN) or Voter Identification Number (VIN)
  • Valid Bank Details for job placements and payment purposes
  • Educational Qualifications (to be uploaded on the portal)
  • A valid phone number and email address are required to ensure candidates can be contacted for job interviews or further processing.
  • Candidates will also be asked to input their skills and preferred job roles to match them with suitable opportunities.

How to Apply

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply:

  • To begin, candidates should visit the portal by logging on to www.employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng.
  • Candidates need to create an account by providing their email address, phone number, and a password. Once registered, they will be able to access their personal dashboard.
  • After creating an account, candidates must complete their profile by submitting their National Identification Number (NIN) or Voter Identification Number (VIN), proof of indigeneship, bank details, and educational qualifications.
  • Candidates are encouraged to fill in their job preferences, including sectors of interest, job roles, and any relevant skills. This allows the system to recommend suitable job opportunities.
  • All submitted information will undergo a verification process. Staff from the Ministry of Labour and Productivity are responsible for ensuring that all documents and details provided are valid.
  • Once the profile is complete and verified, candidates can begin to go through job listings and apply to those that they are qualified for and would love to do.

The portal includes an application tracking feature that allows candidates to monitor the status of their job applications. Notifications for interviews and further assessments will be sent through the portal.

As new skills or qualifications are gained, candidates should update their profiles to ensure they remain competitive and ready for any new opportunities that arise.

The ARISE Youth Employment Portal has put measures in place to ensure that only verified employers are allowed to post job vacancies. Employers who wish to list jobs on the portal must undergo a stringent verification process. This helps to reduce the chances of fraud and ensures that job seekers are applying for genuine roles.

Candidates are assured that all job opportunities listed on the platform have been thoroughly vetted. This verification process protects young job seekers from falling victim to scams, which are often rampant in unregulated online job platforms.

IMPORTANTLY, there are no fees associated with registering on the ARISE Youth Employment Portal. Candidates can create accounts, upload their details, and apply for jobs without having to pay any charges. This makes the platform accessible to all eligible youth in Akwa Ibom, regardless of their financial background.

However, the State Government has urged indigenes to note that registering on the portal does not guarantee automatic employment. While the platform provides access to job opportunities, successful placement is contingent on available vacancies, the suitability of the candidate’s profile, and the specific needs of employers.

Once registered on the ARISE Employment Portal, candidates are expected to actively engage with the portal to maximise their chances of securing a job. This includes keeping their profiles up to date with accurate information about their educational background, skills, and job interests. They are also required to regularly check the portal for job openings and apply to those that fit their qualifications.

Candidates should respond early to any notifications about interviews, assessments, or further requests for information. This level of proactiveness is essential in ensuring that they don’t miss out on job opportunities.

The Governor also mentioned that staff from the Ministry of Labour and Productivity will be verifying candidate credentials, managing employer access, and making sure that all jobs posted on the portal comply with the platform’s guidelines. They will also provide support to candidates to help them with the registration process and understand how to use the platform to become employed.
