The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially launched its 2024 recruitment exercise. The process is open to all qualified Nigerians and will run for four weeks, from Sunday, April 7, 2024, to Saturday, May 5, 2024. Applications for this exercise are completely free, and interested individuals are advised to visit the agency’s official recruitment portal at www.ndlea.gov.ng to apply.
NDLEA Recruitment 2024
The recruitment is categorized into three main sections to accommodate individuals with different levels of education and skills.
Superintendent Cadre
Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (CONPASS 8)
Applicants for this position must hold a first degree or HND in any field from a recognized institution. Additionally, they are required to have an NYSC discharge certificate or an exemption certificate.
Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (CONPASS 9)
Candidates with degrees such as LLB, BL, B.Eng (with COREN certification), or B.Pharm can apply for this role. Upon completing their training, successful applicants will attain the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics.
Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics (CONPASS 10)
This role is open to those who possess an MBBS or DVM. Successful applicants will be granted the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics upon completion of training.
Narcotic Agent Cadre
Chief Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 7)
Candidates with a Nigerian Certificate of Education, registered nursing or midwifery qualifications, or equivalent technical certifications are eligible to apply for this position.
Senior Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 6)
Applicants need a National Diploma (ND) or its equivalent from a recognized institution to qualify for this position.
Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 5)
Applicants must have a minimum of five credits in SSCE, GCE, or NABTEB, including English and Mathematics.
Narcotic Assistant Cadre
Narcotic Assistant I (CONPASS 4)
Applicants should have at least four credits in SSCE, GCE, or NABTEB, including English or Mathematics.
Narcotic Assistant II (CONPASS 3)
Applicants need a minimum of three credits in SSCE, GCE, or NABTEB, including English or Mathematics.
Artisans and Skilled Workers
Positions for mechanics, drivers, cleaners, and gardeners fall under this category. Applicants must present either a secondary school certificate or a trade test grade II or III.
NDLEA Recruitment Requirements for Applicants
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Applicants must be Nigerian by birth and must possess a National Identity Number (NIN).
- Any qualifications not declared during the recruitment process cannot be presented later for career progression.
- Candidates must be medically fit and provide a fitness certificate from a government hospital.
- For the Superintendent Cadre, applicants must be between 20 and 35 years old.
- For the Narcotic Agent and Assistant Cadres, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old.
- Medical doctors and articulated vehicle drivers are eligible to apply up to age 40.
- Male applicants must be at least 1.65 meters tall, while females must be at least 1.60 meters tall.
- Medical and allied professionals must have valid practicing licenses. Lawyers must also present evidence of being called to the bar.
- Applicants must be of good character, drug-free, and must not have any criminal record.
- Only personal email addresses and phone numbers should be used during the application process.
How to Apply for NDLEA Recruitment
To apply for the NDLEA recruitment exercise, follow these steps:
- Visit the NDLEA recruitment portal at www.ndlea.gov.ng.
- Navigate to the “Careers” section and read the provided instructions thoroughly.
- Click on “Apply Now” and select the appropriate category based on your qualifications.
- Fill out the application form, ensuring that the following documents are uploaded: Passport photograph, Educational certificates, Certificate of state of origin, Birth certificate or age declaration, National identity card, and NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Once the application form is completed, applicants must print out the generated slip.
Please note that Multiple applications are prohibited and will result in disqualification. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for further examination and interviews.
Shortlisted candidates will undergo an extensive vetting process, which includes interviews and random drug tests during their service. Successful applicants will also need to download referee forms to be completed by two reputable individuals in their community. These forms must be presented during the screening and interview stages.
Deadline
The closing date for applications is Saturday, May 5, 2024. All submissions must be completed online before this deadline.
