TCN Recruitment 2024 Explained

TCN is seeking to fill the positions of Contracts Engineer and Transmission Line Supervisor. Both positions are very important in the management and supervision of high-voltage transmission line projects.

The North Core Project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria’s electricity transmission system, addressing the critical need for reliable power supply. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which originated from the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), oversees electricity transmission across the nation. TCN operates as one of the 18 business units formed following the unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

The Company promises to recruit only competent professionals through Blueprint Consult and the North Core Project to support TCN’s mission of delivering efficient and sustainable electricity transmission services.

The Contracts Engineer will be tasked with monitoring the fulfilment of contractual obligations by companies awarded construction contracts. They will work closely with the Senior Technical Coordinator of the central PMU to ensure projects meet expected standards. They will also oversee contract implementation and compliance, coordinate with contractors to meet project deadlines, and ensure adherence to international donor regulations, including procurement standards.

The Transmission Line Supervisor will collaborate with the Consulting Engineer, the Project’s Owner’s Engineer, and the National Electricity Company to oversee high-voltage line construction projects.

TCN Recruitment Requirements

TCN has outlined specific eligibility criteria for these roles to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.

• Applicants must hold relevant degrees and certifications in engineering or related fields.
• Candidates must have at least five years of experience in high-voltage transmission line projects.
• Applicants should currently be employed with the National Electricity Company of their country.
• Proficiency in project management software and basic computer applications like MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Effective supervision abilities, integrity and a professional work ethic, and strong organisational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Initiative and ability to work independently.

Requirements for Contracts Engineer

• A minimum of a university degree (BAC+5) in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Experience in managing at least two high-voltage transmission line or transformer substation projects.
• Familiarity with regulations and procedures of international donors such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, and others.

Requirements for Transmission Line Supervisor

• A degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in maintaining or constructing high-voltage transmission lines.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles related to transmission lines.
• Competence in using GIS and other project monitoring tools.
